I’m so glad you’re here! Are you ready to join me on this journey?
Hi, friends. Welcome to Inquestigate! As I work toward setting the intention for this community, I think it’s important for me to share why I’m here and what I hope to get out of this project. Here goes…
I identify as a white woman who sits on the dominant side of the privilege binary in many categories: educated, employed, straight, able-bodied. I have benefited from the privileges this provides throughout my life. I’m sure I’ll do a deep dive into the topic of privilege in the future, but my main point here is that I learned as an adult that I walk through my days carrying certain benefits that not everyone in the world has.
As I studied social justice while I was getting my BEd and then on a deeper level during my MEd studies, I began to feel quite called to understand the historical implications of colonialism. This is a global phonomenon that has contributed to the marginalization of some and the massively privileged wealth of others. I’m fascinated, and the more I learn the more I want to know.
Keeping in mind that I have a lot of ongoing work to do to acknowledge my privilege, I’m here to share what I have learned thus far and what comes up along the way. I am certain that there are like-minded individuals in the world who have a lot to add to this conversation. This is your invitation to join me in this investigation into the past and this quest for understanding that takes us forward. Let’s ask critical questions. Let’s read. Let’s share resources. Let’s connect to discuss. There’s no end to where this project could take us.
